I used to live in the Chicago area, and a 2-hour commute was not unheard of there. It was just a part of getting through life. While I never had to travel that far, my husband did hour-long + drives on a daily basis. Mine was more around 30 minutes.
It looks like that is about to change. I found out yesterday that there is a good chance I will be teaching in a Milwaukee area yarn shop. We are discussing a commitment of one weekend (read Saturday) per month, and I am really excited about it. My daughter lives there so I have a place to crash, I would get to see my 3 grand children, and I love to teach, so it's all good. I can drive down on Friday afternoon, see the kiddies, teach a seminar on Saturday, and drive back home Saturday evening.
There are two TKGA certified Master of Hand Knitting knitters in the state of WI, and the other one works at the same shop. In fact, she is in charge of the teaching there, and we chatted yesterday about the position. While their other teachers schedule classes more frequently, given my travel distance, we are going to set it up a little differently. Once things are set and ready for public communication I will post the name of the shop and provide a link for you (if I can figure out how to do that.)
I need this involvement. When I was working for a yarn shop here in Green Bay I was more creative because the students motivated my imagination. Also, new yarn would come in to the shop, and I often designed quick-knit items that adorned the shop as a promo for yarn. When the shop closed it doors that outlet also closed. I'm hoping that this collaboration will provide that motivation. I'll keep you all posted.
No pictures today. Have a good one.
